Lauren and Matt, Washington, DC

post written on 29 Oct 09 in Engagement shoots

Matt works for a Congressman so we were able to explore areas of the Capital building not open to the general public.  What an amazing historical building!

Kristin and Josh – Meadowlark, Vienna, VA

post written on 26 Oct 09 in Engagement shoots

I traveled to Meadowlark Botanical Gardens in Vienna with Kristin and Josh.  This is easily one of my most interesting couples of the year.  They are both military, but she is still serving, and he is finished.  She is a sweet, charming, funny, sophisticated, beautiful young lady who I just know could kill me with her pinkie.  She has a female James Bond vibe to her.  He is a hulking cowboy who does not waste words.  He is normally quiet, but when he says something it is usually very funny.  He is also a cigar aficionado, so we bonded quickly.  We had a great time exploring different parts of the Gardens and got some fun and beautiful images.

The Wilson Wedding, Bristow Manor, Bristow, VA

post written on 16 Oct 09 in Weddings

Sara and Dan were married at Bristow Manor earlier this Summer. Sara is one of my all time favorite brides, but she still managed to surprise me.  She opened the reception singing a beautiful heartfelt song to Dan that was so touching there was not a dry eye in the house.  A very moving moment.

Bristow Manor is an old classic Virginia Mansion which I have worked at many times.  When Sara told me her intention to have an indoor wedding I thought she was crazy.  But this woman knows what she wants and made it happen.  (With much help from wedding planner goddess Julie McKillip from Your Perfect Day)  The ceremony was flawless and the reception a blast.  A fantastic event.

The Yeh Wedding at the US Naval Academy, Annapolis, MD.

post written on 14 Oct 09 in Weddings

Lesley and Phil were married at the United States Naval Academy Chapel. Steeped in tradition, the Naval Academy is as beautiful as it is historic.  The reception was held at the Navy/ Marine Corps Memorial Stadium as Phil played football for Navy.  The sight of a Blue Angel’s jet sets an impressive tone for the stadium.  The night was filled with some crazy dancing and camaraderie from the servicemen.  A fun filled evening ended with the happy couple running through a sparkler sendoff.

Vender Profile; Erica Wrenn – Creations in Bloom

post written on 02 Oct 09 in Venders

Earlier in the summer I had the pleasure of working with Erica Wrenn of Creations in Bloom on the Russett Wedding.  Erica’s work immediately caught my eye as  her use of color and the simple beauty of her flowers added just the right touch.

I recently visited her shop to gather more insight into this floral artist.  I came away even more impressed than I already was.  She detailed how she  started Creations In Bloom in 2007 after working for many years assisting various local area florists.   She   attributes her success in this industry to the fact that she puts her heart and soul into each and every arrangement that she creates.

Erica’s philosophy on creating beautiful wedding flowers is this ”….a good florist will listen to a couple’s ideas and will design arrangements based on the couple’s wish list.  An exceptional florist will take the time to really get to know the couple they are working with and in turn will create arrangements that capture the essence of the couple, while setting the overall tone for their magical day.”

For anyone seeking out an exceptional florist, Erica can be reached at 571-215-8260 or www.creationsinbloomva.com.
