It was a beautiful Fall day when Lauren and Jon were married at the Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd. The changing leaves made for a picturesque background while photographing the newly married couple. The reception was held at the Hilton in Rockville where the band Rollex kept the party going all night. I must mention a very touching aspect to this event. Lauren was escorted down the isle by both her father and her step-father. Also, during his toast the father made it a point to say some very genuine and gracious remarks about the step-father. As a step-father myself I was very moved by their relationship. It was a wonderful thing to witness.
Oh what a day to be a Maryland Wedding Photographer! Brooke and BJ’s wedding was a blast right from the start. I arrived at the magnificent home of the bride’s parents to find the party in full swing. The bride and her bridesmaids were drinking champagne while putting on the final touches of makeup in matching bathrobes. Brooke’s dad played gracious host to the ladies as Brooke’s Mom and I toured the grounds for photo opportunities. She had put forth tremendous effort to make everything perfect for her little girl. A white couch was placed on the front lawn which later made for some fun pictures with all the ladies. Soon BJ arrived with his groomsmen and we had a “first look” moment with his future bride. After some bridal party and family pictures we headed over to All Saints Church for the ceremony. All Saints is a gorgeous old church but a tremendous technical photographic challenge inside because it is extremely dark. My second shooter Bree and I handled it with some of the most advanced camera gear available. (A few years ago we would not have been able to capture anything.) The reception was held at Congressional Country Club. Congressional can always be counted on to host a first class event and they did it again. The band had the place rocking as Brooke and BJ laughed and danced the night away with family and friends. It was a wonderful event.
This coming July it will be four years since I shot the wedding of one of my all time favorite couples, Jessica and Joe. Also this July I will be shooting the wedding of Jessica’s little sister Jenny. Jenny will be marrying Kyle and I cannot wait. She is as nice and easy to get along with as her older sister, and Kyle was fantastic. They were a pleasure to work with as we spent an afternoon exploring the Georgetown area and getting some great shots.
