Heidi and David – Culpeper Engagement Photography

post written on 09 Jan 12 in Engagement shoots

Heidi and David enjoy visiting different Virginia wineries on the weekends.  (Me too!)  They suggested Old House Vinyards in Culpeper for their engagement shoot.  I had never been there so I was excited to discover a new spot.  It was very nice and would be a great location for a wedding.

Erika and Geoffrey – Washington, D.C. Engagement Photography

post written on 05 Jan 12 in Engagement shoots

Erika and Geoffrey wanted their engagement photos to be taken in Georgetown.  I quickly agreed.  Georgetown is a wonderful spot for walking around and exploring photographic possibilities.  Especially when the last colors of Fall are still on the trees.  We got lucky and had a warm sunny day and made some beautiful pictures.

Erin and Ted – Great Falls Engagement Photography

post written on 13 Dec 11 in Engagement shoots

We used to have the greatest next door neighbors ever, and were not happy when they moved away.  Friendly, warm, generous, intelligent, the type of people you could always count on.  We have done our best to stay in touch and recently received some great news.  Erin, their daughter is getting married.  I could not be happier.  I had meet Erin’s fiance Ted on a few occasions and always thought they were a good match.  I got a chance to see this in person as we spent a morning together at Great Falls Park exploring and creating some wonderful images.  The wedding is in December and I can’t wait!

Megan and Clayton – Northern Virginia Engagement Photography

post written on 01 Dec 11 in Engagement shoots

Megan and Clayton enjoy the outdoors and one of their favorite spots is Bears Den in Bluemont, Virginia.  It was here on a visit last summer that Clayton asked Megan to marry him.  We were lucky to catch the tail end of the Fall foliage and created some fun, silly, and loving images.

Emily and Blake – National Arboretum Engagement Photography

post written on 29 Nov 11 in Engagement shoots

Emily and Blake knew they wanted their engagement photos shot at the National Arboretum.  I had never been there but quickly realized why upon seeing the old Corinthian columns from the Capital building.  It was like visiting the Parthenon in Athens Greece.  Blake’s tuxedo and Emily’s dress added another degree of elegance to the event.

Caitlin and Adam – Jefferson Memorial Engagement Photography

post written on 23 Nov 11 in Engagement shoots

The Jefferson Memorial is a great place to shoot an engagement session, but its even better if you can catch some Fall foliage.  Caitlin and Adam timed their session just right.  We got some amazing shots with gorgeous leaves, but the reality is that it is hard to take a bad picture of these two.  As I was showing my wife the finished images she proclaimed “Wow!  They are a good looking couple!”  I could not agree more.

Julie and Howard – Maryland Engagement Photography

post written on 22 Nov 11 in Engagement shoots

Julie and Howard met while playing co-ed touch football.  So naturally we went back to the scene of the crime for their engagement photos.  (The first image below is a “Heisman Trophy pose” while wearing their team uniform.)  We had a great time exploring Meadowbrook Park and I had a front row seat to witness the amazing chemistry that they share.

Suzanne and Seamus – Maryland Engagement Photography

post written on 17 Nov 11 in Engagement shoots

Fall engagement shoots are very popular with my clients.  Crisp weather, gorgeous foliage, and a low sun angle are a few elements which make them special.  Suzanne and Seamus met me at Brookside Gardens in Wheaton, MD and we took advantage of all three to make some wonderful images.

Laura and Chris – Northern Virginia Engagement Photography

post written on 16 Nov 11 in Engagement shoots

I grew up in a small town in Connecticut that had its fair share of farms.  The smell of cows or horses always brings me back to my childhood.  Thoughts of playing Little League or riding my bike with friends on a warm summer day fill my head.  What does this have to do with photography?  I am constantly amazed by the creative process.  What elements help create a great image?  Even if you start with a fabulous location and beautiful models that does not mean you will come out with a fabulous or beautiful image.  I propose that your frame of mind has as much to do with it as any other variable.  So I am saying that horse poop helped me while shooting Laura and Chris and was responsible for my best engagement shoot of the year.  We shot on the family farm and I loved it!
