Courtney and Ted Engagement shoot in Vienna, VA

post written on 15 Jun 10 in Engagement shoots

I spent an afternoon with Courtney and Ted at Meadowlark Botanical Garden.  Meadowlark is one of my favorite spots in Northern Virginia.  Lots of space to explore, beautiful gardens, it makes for an ideal engagement shoot location.  Of course with all those wonderful flowers comes a ton of bugs.  Courtney and Ted were troopers and ignored the pesky little things.  We had a fun time and got some great images.

Nicolette and Alex at Glen Echo Park, Glen Echo, MD

post written on 10 Jun 10 in Engagement shoots

Glen Echo park must have been something in its prime!  It was a lot of fun exploring this old amusement park with Nicolette and Alex.  It is always difficult to shoot at a place like this because I try to create pictures that are more about the couple and less about the place.  I think it worked.

Hiedi and Michael Engagement shoot, Washington, DC

post written on 19 May 10 in Engagement shoots

Heidi and Michael also wanted to take advantage of the Cherry Blossoms, but we scheduled their shoot at the end of the blooming period.  However, when the trees are no longer beautiful along the tidal basin, there are still many trees in full bloom available to find.  (You just need to know where to look!)  As we were shooting  a very strange thing happened.  My friends Linda and Nato just happened to take the day off and came walking by.  Nato took an interesting picture of me creating the last two images in this post.HeidiAndMichael_002HeidiAndMichael_025HeidiAndMichael_046HeidiAndMichael_047P4070006

Elizabeth and Andy Engagement shoot, Washington DC

post written on 19 May 10 in Engagement shoots

One of the most beautiful events in  Washington DC is the blooming of the Cherry Blossom trees.  The National Cherry Blossom Festival is held every year and people flock to the area.  Be aware.  It is an amazing site and should not be missed, but the crowds can be crazy!!  Elizabeth and Andy spent a few hours walking around the tidal basinElizabethAndy_020ElizabethAndy_028ElizabethAndy_036ElizabethAndy_038 and the Jefferson Memorial and we came away with some great shots.

Mary and John in Georgetown

post written on 14 Jan 10 in Engagement shoots

I love working with theater people!  Mary and John both have extensive experience on stage and they could not be more comfortable in front of the camera.  Combine that with a wonderful sense of playfulness and the end result is a fantastic engagement shoot.

Kara and Tom in Washington, D.C.

post written on 06 Jan 10 in Engagement shoots

Kara and Tom started out at Union Station on their engagement shoot and then headed towards the Capitol.  They are so in love and into each other I am not sure they were aware that I was with them.

Angela and Marvin at the Lincoln Memorial, Washington, D.C.

post written on 17 Dec 09 in Engagement shoots

Angela and Marvin wanted to shoot at a location which really said “Washington, D.C.“  The Lincoln says it the loudest.  A great spot with great views, it can be tricky to shoot at.  The Parks Service likes to play a game with photographers where you cannot shoot at a monument without a permit, however, the permit does not allow you to shoot at the monument.  Huh?  It can be frustrating to say the least.  We still got some great images and we also captured some of the Fall colors.

Michelle and Doug at the Lincoln Memorial, Washington, DC

post written on 10 Dec 09 in Engagement shoots

I spent a few hours with Michelle and Doug at the Lincoln Memorial.  Is there a place in the country with a more impressive view?  I love being able to capture the love and fun between a couple.  These guys had plenty of both.

Lauren and Matt, Washington, DC

post written on 29 Oct 09 in Engagement shoots

Matt works for a Congressman so we were able to explore areas of the Capital building not open to the general public.  What an amazing historical building!

Kristin and Josh – Meadowlark, Vienna, VA

post written on 26 Oct 09 in Engagement shoots

I traveled to Meadowlark Botanical Gardens in Vienna with Kristin and Josh.  This is easily one of my most interesting couples of the year.  They are both military, but she is still serving, and he is finished.  She is a sweet, charming, funny, sophisticated, beautiful young lady who I just know could kill me with her pinkie.  She has a female James Bond vibe to her.  He is a hulking cowboy who does not waste words.  He is normally quiet, but when he says something it is usually very funny.  He is also a cigar aficionado, so we bonded quickly.  We had a great time exploring different parts of the Gardens and got some fun and beautiful images.
