Old Town Alexandria was the setting for this engagement session with Tiffany and Bennett. The time I spend with my clients is invaluable. Getting to know them is a bonus to my job, but I also have a chance to observe and learn how they interact with each other. I just shot a wedding this past weekend which did not include an engagement session. I spent the first third of the day almost as a stranger to the couple. In my opinion, an engagement session will make your wedding photos better.
I did an engagement session with Erin and John at Meadowlark Botanical Gardens in Vienna this past Fall. We timed it well and had some beautiful foliage and spent a wonderful afternoon exploring the grounds. Meadowlark is still one of my favorite spots for engagement photography.
Marissa and Michael requested an engagement session around the Capitol. The trick with this type of shoot is to make it not look like a tourist photo. I was able to demonstrate the playful personalities of Marissa and Michael while also capturing the loving interaction between them. Tourist photo? I think not.
I shot the engagement photos for Karen and Carson at Morven Park in Leesburg, VA. They brought their playful dogs for a few shots and then we explored the many acres of the park and enjoyed the beauty of the Fall foliage. I recommend Morven as a great spot for engagement photography.
I shot the engagement photos for Trish and Tom at Red Rocks Park in Leesburg, Virginia. The park is home to the ruins of several buildings, built in the late 1800’s, by wealthy gentleman farmer, Charles Paxton. They create unique and interesting backgrounds. The color, texture, and patina are ideal for an engagement session.
I shot the engagement photos for Cara and Jaimie at sunrise at the Jefferson Memorial in Washington, DC. The light was amazing at this early hour but I am sure I can shoot this couple in any situation. They were completely relaxed in front of the camera and comfortable with each other, simply a joy to photograph.
I shot the engagement photos for Laura and Arthur at Stone Tower Winery in Leesburg, VA. It was my first time visiting Stone Tower and I was very impressed. They have two facilities sitting next to each other, the older original tasting room and the new one. The original is a renovated barn next to an old farm house with plenty of lawn furniture for relaxing. The new building houses many different sized banquet rooms and would be fantastic for a wedding or a small family reunion. There is a wonderful stone patio overlooking the many acres of grape vines. I cannot wait to return and explore the Stone Tower Winery and sample some wine.
I shot the engagement photos for Lara and Derek in Washington, DC. They wanted to incorporate the Washington Monument into the session as it holds special meaning to them. I always love shooting in DC. There are not many cities as beautiful and historic.
I shot the engagement photos for Jessica and Jamie at Meadowlark Botanical Gardens in Vienna, VA. Meadowlark is one of my favorite spots for an engagement session because of a great variety of beautiful terrain.

I shot the engagement photos for Lissette and Jaye at the National Harbor. Since moving to Virginia eight years ago I have seen National Harbor grow into a great location for a day trip. It now has lots of shops, restaurants and fun attractions, including a ferris wheel. We spent a few hours exploring and came away with some fantastic photos.
