The Cherry Blossom Festival in DC is one of the most unique and beautiful events in the country.  But it can also be a giant pain in the rear end.  Massive crowds, traffic and a lack of parking can diminish the experience.  Spending an hour shooting Adrianna and Oliver made it all worth while!  These two could not be more comfortable in front of the camera and they could not be more in love.  They made my job easy by simply forgetting that I was there and enjoying each other.  It was an amazing experience.

I spent an afternoon in Old Town Leesburg with Peggy and Rob. Rob grew up in Leesburg and even mention a couple of youthful visits to the courthouse as we explored the landscape of the area.  Leesburg is a great little city with wonderful spots for photo opportunities.  Peggy and Rob are a fun couple and we had a blast!

Its finally starting to get warm in Northern Virginia.  Woohoo!  So I spent the day in Old Town Alexandria with Emily and Nathan creating some engagement photos.  They are such an easy-going, laid-back couple and it was a pleasure working with them.  A stop in the ice cream shop wrapped up a fun day.

I met up with Jane and Nic at the Cattail Creek Country Club in Glennwood Maryland on an absolutely beautiful Saturday afternoon; we couldn’t have asked for nicer weather. It was immediately apparent that Jane and Nic had a good thing going; they share a fun loving sense of humor and have a wonderfully natural dynamic. I captured a range of great images as they played a round of golf stopping intermittently to take full advantage of the fall color and beautiful light.  The cattails made for a spectacular backdrop. It was a great way to spend the afternoon and I look forward to shooting their wedding next year.

I met up with Lindsey and Michael on a beautiful Saturday afternoon in Washington DC. I had a great time capturing the fun dynamic between this couple as we explored the set potential of many DC monuments. The fall colors were absolutely spectacular and added a wonderful richness to the range of images that we were able to capture. I had a fantastic time and I look forward to shooting their wedding.

My favorite thing about an engagement shoot is spending time with a couple and seeing how they interact.  My second favorite is when I succeed in alleviating apprehension about being photographed.  I met Amanda and Dave at Bears Den in Bluemont and Dave was quick to point out how much he disliked having his photo taken.  After an  hour shooting with me he was converted!  A beautiful fall day was spent hiking, exploring and photographing.  I am looking forward to their wedding in a couple of months.

I love when my clients bring props to an engagement shoot.  Karen and David met me in Bethesda on a perfect fall day.  We spent the afternoon enjoying the spectacular color of the leaves and eating cupcakes.  Good times.

I spent a lovely afternoon with Wendy and Derrek in the small town of Clifton Virginia. We had a great time walking along Main Street and taking fun images along the way. I am always looking to capture the natural moments between two people so I often encourage couples to forget that they are being photographed. Yes, I know that this is nearly impossible for 99.9% of the population but it’s always worth suggesting. Wendy and Derrick were so wonderfully engaged in one another that I think they really did forget about me a few times; they clearly have a good thing going!

Corena, Destin and I spent an afternoon at Meadowlark shooting some great images.  Destin’s father Richard is a professional photographer and it was clear that Dustin had spent a lifetime in front of his dad’s camera.  Thanks Richard!

I met up with Paolla and Masoud on a gorgeous Saturday morning in Old Town Alexandria. Old Town is a beautiful historic district with many interesting and dynamic backdrops. I had an absolutely fantastic time working with this couple who had undeniable chemistry along with a twist of goofiness. I was more than impressed when Paolla managed to give Masoud a piggy-back ride: some people have trouble walking in high heels, some along cobble stone streets and most while carrying the load of a grown man, but Paolla did it all. I was thrilled to have the opportunity to capture all of this positive, fun-loving energy and I look forward to shooting their wedding which I have no doubt will be an absolute blast.
