Hiedi and Michael Engagement shoot, Washington, DC

post written on 19 May 10 in Engagement shoots

Heidi and Michael also wanted to take advantage of the Cherry Blossoms, but we scheduled their shoot at the end of the blooming period.  However, when the trees are no longer beautiful along the tidal basin, there are still many trees in full bloom available to find.  (You just need to know where to look!)  As we were shooting  a very strange thing happened.  My friends Linda and Nato just happened to take the day off and came walking by.  Nato took an interesting picture of me creating the last two images in this post.HeidiAndMichael_002HeidiAndMichael_025HeidiAndMichael_046HeidiAndMichael_047P4070006

Elizabeth and Andy Engagement shoot, Washington DC

post written on 19 May 10 in Engagement shoots

One of the most beautiful events in  Washington DC is the blooming of the Cherry Blossom trees.  The National Cherry Blossom Festival is held every year and people flock to the area.  Be aware.  It is an amazing site and should not be missed, but the crowds can be crazy!!  Elizabeth and Andy spent a few hours walking around the tidal basinElizabethAndy_020ElizabethAndy_028ElizabethAndy_036ElizabethAndy_038 and the Jefferson Memorial and we came away with some great shots.

Dickson Wedding, Rockville, MD

post written on 22 Apr 10 in Weddings

Mary and John were married last month in one of the most playful and interesting weddings I have ever shot.  Not only did the event clearly match the personalities of the bride and groom, but it also paid tribute to their shared love of the theater.  Elaborate flowing blue cloth contributed to both the ceremony and reception having a feeling of being on stage.  Centerpiece cards at each table detailed all of the productions Mary and John have been associated with.  The Best Man speech had everyone laughing so hard they were nearly crying.  A truly enjoyable event!Dickson_198Dickson_232Dickson_294Dickson_298Dickson_374Dickson_416Dickson_474Dickson_531Dickson_534Dickson_536Dickson_1047Dickson_1048Dickson_1057

The Replogle Wedding, Washington, D.C.

post written on 04 Mar 10 in Weddings

Kara and Tom were married at the St. Regis hotel in downtown D.C..  The St. Regis is one of Washington’s most elegant and well respected hotels, and they upheld this reputation very well.  This is the year of the snowstorm as we have had a record 72 inches so far,  so of course we had some snow.  This made for some fun and romantic photographs.  The ceremony and main ballroom were spectacular thanks to the fabulous Claudia Lutman.

The McGinley Wedding, Arlington, VA

post written on 28 Jan 10 in Weddings

Lauren and Matt were married at Holy Trinity Church in Georgetown.  This is the church that President Kennedy attended while in office.  It was a gorgeous Fall day and this made for some amazing backgrounds.  After the ceremony we walked the streets of Georgetown and got some great shots.  The reception was held at Washington Golf and Country Club in Arlington.  This is one of the oldest clubs in the area and can count many past presidents as members.  A wonderful day.

Mary and John in Georgetown

post written on 14 Jan 10 in Engagement shoots

I love working with theater people!  Mary and John both have extensive experience on stage and they could not be more comfortable in front of the camera.  Combine that with a wonderful sense of playfulness and the end result is a fantastic engagement shoot.

Kara and Tom in Washington, D.C.

post written on 06 Jan 10 in Engagement shoots

Kara and Tom started out at Union Station on their engagement shoot and then headed towards the Capitol.  They are so in love and into each other I am not sure they were aware that I was with them.

Akahloun Wedding at Birkby House, Leesburg, Virginia

post written on 05 Jan 10 in Weddings

Sarah and Omar were married at the Thomas Birkby House in historic Leesburg, Virginia.  The Birkby House is one of my favorite spots in the area and I shot there earlier in the summer.  Its hard to beat the classic old Virginia charm of the facility and surrounding area.  Sarah and Omar are a fantastic couple to shoot because they simply forgot that I am with them and got lost in each other.  I tried some creative photography techniques and I am very pleased with the results.

Angela and Marvin at the Lincoln Memorial, Washington, D.C.

post written on 17 Dec 09 in Engagement shoots

Angela and Marvin wanted to shoot at a location which really said “Washington, D.C.“  The Lincoln says it the loudest.  A great spot with great views, it can be tricky to shoot at.  The Parks Service likes to play a game with photographers where you cannot shoot at a monument without a permit, however, the permit does not allow you to shoot at the monument.  Huh?  It can be frustrating to say the least.  We still got some great images and we also captured some of the Fall colors.

The Kagarise Wedding at Bristow Manor, Bristow, Virginia

post written on 10 Dec 09 in Weddings

Beth and Jon were married at Bristow Manor in a daring outdoor ceremony.  I say daring because the chances of it being too cold and dark were very high, but everything turned out great!  It was the day after our President won the Nobel Peace Prize so I thought that would make a great back drop for the rings.  The atmosphere was crazy from the start (watch what you do in front of the camera bridesmaids!) and the party never stopped.  We also had the most spectacular sunset I have seen since leaving California.
